Outscored for the first time this year in the 1st half (50-45), the Mustangs recommitted to the defensive end in the 2nd half to hold the Seawolves to 35 2nd half points en-route to a 95-85 victory.
The Mustangs charged out of the locker room early on and rang up a 19-7 lead in the first six minutes of the contest. In the middle of the first half, a few costly turnovers and some timely shooting by SMCC allowed the home team back in the game and a halftime lead.
Forty minutes of full-court pressure defense took its toll on SMCC as the Mustangs caused 15 2nd half turnovers. Productive bench play from Carrington Miller (19 points, 8 rebounds) and Shaun Hill (18 points) proved to be a huge difference maker. The CM bench contributed 55 points in the game.
The Mustangs keep their undefeated streak in tack, improving their record to 13-0 overall and 8-0 in the YSCC. The squad travels to EMCC Friday night for an 8pm contest.
