Softball Fall Season in Review

Auburn, ME - Although the Lady Mustangs were winless this season, the strength and unity of the team was the strongest it's been in years. Throughout the course of the season the ladies experienced setbacks but never gave up on each other. Instead after a concussion, a death in the family, and other injuries they managed to rally together and support one another.

According to Head Softball Coach, Kate Dargie, "As a coach, I couldn't be more proud of the ladies and their constant dedication to the sport. Every practice each and every player worked to improve their game and did it not only for themselves, but for the other players around them."

Off the field they were active members of their community by volunteering at a 5K, helping other students move in to the dorms, and supporting Special Olympics by honoring three athletes at their final home game.

On the field, freshman Sadie Ellsworth was a standout for the Mustangs with six hits on the season and three put outs behind the plate. Captain Carian Estes took on the job of pitching every game, as CM lost their back up pitcher half way through the season. Estes was able to limit the number of batters she walked and kept her composure on the mound, regardless of the score. All-conference player, Taylor Fillion returned to the field after graduating in 2013. Taylor led the charge in the clean-up spot with six hits on the season and one stolen base. In addition, freshman Sierra Patterson added to the mix with six hits and speed on the bases. The Mustang's will be working hard in the off-season and will be prepared to improve their record in the upcoming year.
