Mustang Semester Recap - Softball

Auburn, ME - Back in action was our Women's Softball team led by Coach Robertson. The Fall season was loaded with 14 countable games that will continue into the Spring season. The Mustangs opened their season with a sweep of the Lynx from NHTI. They won the first game 8-5 with a great pitching effort by first year player, Avery Herrick. Herrick pitched five inning allowing 2 hits, 1 earned run and 10 strikeouts. In the second game of the double-header, the Mustangs won convincingly 10-2. They were led by Olivia Scott who got the start on the mound and helped with her bat by hitting an inside-the-park home run! Emily Wormwood added a triple and 2 RBI's in the win. Coach Robertson was impressed with the way the Mustangs started the season, "This was a big way to start our fall season with couple of wins for us. NTHI is a very tough conference opponent."

With games being cancelled or postponed for various reasons, the players handled themselves with class and composure as they remained focused and ready to work each day at practice. For a new team that includes few familiar faces, Coach Robertson says the girls are ready for every game. With the leadership of returning captain, Abbey Ferland, this upcoming Spring has the opportunity to be exciting for the Mustangs. According to Coach Robertson, "Until we can limit our errors we are going to make things difficult for ourselves at times." If the Mustangs can limit errors and keep their bats hot, there is no telling how far this team can go! The Mustangs will be back in action in April when they open up their Spring season against Bay Path.
