Women's Basketball exacts revenge with win over UMFK

Auburn, ME - The Mustangs hosted the Bengals of the University of Maine Fort Kent on Sunday afternoon. The Bengals handed the Mustangs their only loss on the season back in November in Fort Kent. Despite incredibly sloppy play and poor shooting, the Mustangs would -extend a 3-point game at the half and balloon the lead to over 20-points. CM would hold on for the 57-43 victory.

In the low scoring affair, only two Mustangs hit for double figures. Destiny Mora Lopez led the way with a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double. Mora Lopez also recorded 4 assists and 2 blocks. Ella Lavigne played limited minutes and recorded 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Riley Hebler was once against relentless on the defensive side. She collected 4 steals and set the program record for charges in a single game with 5. Chantel Ouellette score 6 points, pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds, and drew one offensive foul. Hebler and Ouellette are now tied with the program record of 24 (& counting) charges taken in a season.

With the win the Mustangs improve to 23-1 overall. They play their final two games of the regular season this week. On Wednesday (6pm), they travel to South Portland to take on Southern Maine Community College in their final YSCC game of the year. On Saturday (1pm), the Mustangs host the Knights of Berkeley College (NY) where they will riggings their four upperclassmen, Destiny Mora Lopez, Mikenzie Melendez, Winnie LaRochelle, and Chantel Ouellette.
