Women's Soccer Routs UMA

AUGUSTA — Maggie McConkey scored back-to-back goals in a five-goal outburst in the first half Sunday, boosting Central Maine Community College to a 6-1 women's soccer victory over the University of Maine at Augusta.

Jenn Lola scored the lone goal for UMA on a direct kick with just under 10 minutes to play in regulation. Freshman goalkeeper Abby Peabody played a stellar first collegiate game, recording 12 saves for the Moose.

CM's Amber Pritchard opened the scoring at 13:04, dropping a shot in the corner of the net on a pass from Gabby Ouellette. The Mustangs' Mariah Larsen followed that up less than two minutes later, scoring on a breakaway. McConkey then scored twice in the next 10 minutes before Mikayla Hamilton scored the final goal of the first half, giving CM the 5-0 lead at halftime.

With the win the Lady Mustangs improve to 1-0 to start the 2013 campaign, while the Moose fall to 0-1.  CM is back in action Tuesday, when they host the Unity College Rams.
