2024-25: As a sophomore, played in 19 games scoring one goal and adding three assists. Started 8 of the team’s first 10 games… Scored lone goal vs UMaine Augusta in a “senior night” victory. Had an assist vs Vermont State University-Randolph... Started USCAA DII National Championship game, registering two assists in CMCC’s 7-0 victory over #2 Central Penn College, his first multi-point game for Mustangs... Off the field, is the Central Maine Community College student body president.
2023-24: As a freshman, played in all 17 games as a winger for the Mustangs, recording 2 goals and 1 assist as the team won the 2024 YSCC Tournament. Had an assist in a 9-0 win vs UMaine-Augusta on 10/4. Scored his first collegiate goal in a 10-0 win vs Hampshire College on 10/14. Scored the game-winning goal in a USCAA National Tournament group play match vs Five Towns College in a 2-0 win on 11/18… Was given the school’s Against All Odds Scholarship Award for his perseverance and determination overcoming challenges both on and off the field.
2022-23: Tiro attended Allen Community College in Kansas, playing JV soccer before transferring to CMCC.
Prior to CMCC: Graduated from Glenvista High School in South Africa. Played soccer for the South Africa School of Excellence U19 team, winning the Gauteng Development League (GDL) Cup.
Personal: Parents are George and Anna Nong, and has one younger sister. His mother was a long-distance runner and his father played semi-professional club soccer… Tiro speaks eight different languages and prides himself on his face-to-face communication skills.
What made you choose to attend CMCC?
I was recruited by former coach Kiaran McCormack and loved the school.
