Playing without key reserves Makenzie Beaudry and Tatianna Saint-Louis, the Mustangs once again needed others to step up. The unrattled veterans and unrelenting freshman rallied, maintaining their lead throughout the game for the 70-57 victory.

This matchup featured the Bengals, ranked 6th in the latest USCAA D1 National Coaches Poll and the Lady Mustangs who are 3rd in the most recent USCAA D2 National Coaches Poll. Both teams were in their respective USCAA National Tournaments last year, while splitting with each in head-to-head matchups in each of the past two seasons.

The lone Mustangs in double-digits was first-year standout, Eliza Brault (Ossipee, NH). Brault was unstoppable, recording a game-High 22 points, while also notching 6 rebounds and 4 steals while shooting 60% from the floor. Veteran captains, Natalie Thurber (Wells, ME) and Kristen Huntress (Harrison, ME) were incredibly steady, helping the Mustangs answer every run that the Bengals had. Huntress finished with 9 points (three 3's), 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals, while Thurber tallied 8 points (two 3's) and a game-high 5 assists.

Abby Nadeau pulled down a game-high 7 rebounds, while also netting 7 points.

Ranika Guyton led the Bengals with 21 points.

UMFK got as close as 5 in the 3rd quarter, but after a timeout, threes by Thurber and Sara Moring ballooned the lead back to double-digits. The lead grew to as much as 16 several times in the 4th quarter.

With the win the Lady Mustangs improve to 21-2 overall and will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Southern Maine Community College (6:00pm). Wednesday's game will also serve as Student-Athlete Recognition Night for the Mustangs who will honor their 6 upperclassmen prior to the start of the game.
