Auburn, ME - Head Women's Soccer Coach, Rob Rodriguez, has named three team captains for the 2018 season. According to Coach Rodriguez, "In past years we have waited until preseason to do this, however coming off the best season in program history we wanted to build on that success and that begins with leadership in the off-season to set the tone for next fall. With a good solid core of returning players combined with what looks to be our best recruiting class ever, we need to have as many pieces in place as possible so we can hit the ground running in August."

Returning for her fourth year as captain, three-time MVP, and 2017 All-Conference selection Megan Duval. A 2015 graduate from Spruce Mountain High School in Jay, Megan has been a key part of the development and rebuilding effort of the women's soccer program over the past three years providing leadership and mentoring each incoming class of recruits. She will be spending the summer at Army bootcamp, returning in August for preseason. Megan studies in the Human Services Program at CM.  

Keara Hunter, a 2017 graduate of Wiscasset High School will be entering her second year for the Mustangs in the Liberal Studies program. Keara took on the role of center back last season, one of the most difficult positions on the field and one of the hardest to get adjusted to coming out of high school. Her communication on the field and knowledge of how high to set the defensive line progressed tremendously throughout the season. Keara's total commitment to the Mustangs strength & conditioning program has helped to set an example for the rest of the team.   

Stephanie Jones, also a 2017 graduate of Wiscasset High School, had to make her freshman year contributions to the team from the bench last season due to a season ending injury over the summer. Steph took on an "unofficial" assistant coach role and provided a much-needed second set of eyes on the team during practice and games, earned a huge amount of respect from the team, and was awarded Coaches Award for the 2017 season. She is looking forward to finally being able to make a difference on the field for the Mustangs next season and is already setting an excellent example with her commitment to the weight room as she rehabs from her injury. Stephanie is in the General Studies program.   

The Mustangs open their 2018 season on Friday August 31 on the road at UMaine Machias.
