Mustang Semester Recap - Volleyball

Auburn, ME - In the 2021 season for our Women's Volleyball team, they saw many accomplishments for being a young program. They earned their first win for the program sweeping Great Bay Community College in three sets. Strong serving set the tone early in the match for CM, lead by Angelina Leonard who tallied up a remarkable thirteen acecs. Coach Chapman was impressed with the early composure and scrappy defensive play of his young team. "We showed a lot of composure and grit at some key moments, which is impressive considering how young our team is," stated Chapman after the win. The team would go on to finish with an overall record of 4-6 and conference record of 2-6. To close out the season they were able to secure wins at Great Bay Community College and World of Life.

Tiara Begishe led the team in kills per set, number of kills, and hitting percentage. Angelina Leonard led the Mustangs in blocks per set, service aces per set and assists per set. Cheyenne Cly rounded out the statistics, leading the team in digs per set and total number of digs. To cap off the season for the team, first-year standout, Tiara Begishe, was named the Yankee Small College Conference Player of the Year. Begishe created her teammates after receiving this award, "It is an honor to receive this individual award, but it would not have been possible without my amazing teammates. It was a record setting year for our program, but we are not satisfied. We are looking forward to next season already!" It is safe to say that the CMCC family are looking forward to next volleyball season as well!
