Women's Volleyball clinches YSCC Regular Season Championship

South Portland, ME - The Mustangs traveled down for a quad match hosted by Southern Maine Community College to take on Paul Smith's College and Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. The Mustangs played very well and were able secure two sweeps.

The first match of the day was against Paul Smith's College, the number two team in the Yankee Conference standings. Last time these two teams met up, the Mustangs were able to pull out a tough 5-set win. This time was different, and the Mustangs were able to take down Paul Smith's in three straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-16). The Mustangs success was centered around scrappy defensive play and serve reception. Libero, Gloria Seaman led the Mustangs back row in this effort with 32 of the team's 88 digs. CM also did a great job controlling the net and had 10 total blocks on the night. Middle blockers Kenzie Bills, Sage Cormier, and outside hitter Gia Copper each had 3, 2, and 2 blocks respectively. The Mustangs also did a great job converting those defensive plays into offensive opportunities, led by Bills who had 7 kills on the match.

When asked about the match, Head Women's Volleyball Coach, Kyle Chapman, said, "I was really happy with how we played today, we did the little things right. We played great defense, worked really hard in transition and were able to convert that into offense. We still made a fair share of errors, but for the most part we did not try to do too much. I am excited to see if we can replicate this same level of play tomorrow and Friday."

The second match of the day the Mustangs squared off against the Panthers of ACPHS and were able to take them down in straight sets (25-11, 25-17, 25-11). The Mustangs were able to take control of the match from the start with some tough serving from Angelina Leonard and Gloria Seaman who both had 5 aces. The Mustangs were also able to click a little better on offense, hitting .170 on the match.

The Mustangs are on the road again tomorrow, taking on NHTI and then again on Friday taking on SMCC for the final game of the regular season.
