Coach Knoren, enters his 4th season as head coach of the Mustangs, having taken the reins of the program ahead of the 2021-22 season, replacing former head coach Matt Buotte.

The Mustangs won their first ever NEHCA Championship in 2023-24, and competed at the ACHA Division III National Tournament. This followed a runner-up finish in the NECHA in 2022-23 in the Mustangs first season eligible for post-season play.

Knoren is also the fitness center coordinator for CMCC and serves as the strength and conditioning coach for all Mustangs athletic programs. He was named 2019 Male Athlete of the Year at Central Maine after captaining the hockey team for two seasons. He finished his three-year playing career for the Mustangs with 68 points and earned his degree in the physical fitness specialist program. Over the course of his international career Knoren represented the Netherlands at three World Junior Championships, capturing gold at the 2013 IIHF U18 WJC D2B tournament in Belgrade, Serbia.

Knoren has his ACSM certification and currently lives in Auburn with his wife and their 3-year-old son Brooks.
