Women's Basketball surges past CCRI

Auburn, ME - For the first time in 6 season, the Lady Mustangs beat the Knights of CCRI.  Depth and pressure defense were once again the story, as CM surged past CCRI by a 98-67 final.

The relentless pressure defense led by Brooke Reynolds (Poland, ME) forced 37 turnovers.  Reynolds finished with a career-high and game-high, 29 points, to go along with 8 rebounds (all offensive), and 7 steals.  Taylor Esty (Rangeley, ME) dominated the interior with 11 points and 7 rebounds, while Tianna Harriman (Auburn, ME) dropped in 10, including two deep 3's.  Point guards Nicole Hamblin (Fayette, ME) and Kristina Blais (Lewiston, ME) facilited the offensive game plan.  Hamblin put in 8 points with 8 assists and Blais finished with 6 points and 4 assists.

Although the Lady Mustangs seemed to have control for most of the game, the Knights did exchange the lead 4 times in the first half, before CM opened the 2nd half on a 13-0 run to put the game out of reach.

Kelsey Hernandez led the Knights with 18 points.

With the win CM improves to 5-0 on the year and will take on Vermont Tech tomorrow at noon time.
