Seawolves handle Lady Mustangs

South Portland, ME - The Lady Mustangs traveled to SMCC for their final matchup of the season.  The first half started with the Mustangs on defense most of the time, laying back and waiting for the Seawolves attack.  SMCC scored an early goal within the first two minutes but the Mustangs then settled in and began to play and looked much better at midfield then in previous games.  It would be another ten minutes before the Mustangs would give up another goal.   At the 30 minute mark, pressure from the Mustang attack led to a handball from a Seawolves defender right at the goal line setting up a penalty kick.  Amber Pritchard (Winthrop, ME) buried the PK in the back of the net for her first goal of the season and the game was 4-1 SMCC.   The Seawolves would score three more goals before the half ended at 7-1.

Instead of sitting and resting at half time, the Mustangs stayed warm with some passing drills and came out to play the best second half for them all season.  They moved the ball up the field better, were on defense less and had some quality chances at the Seawolves net.  The final score was 10-1 SMCC but aside from the score it was a step in the right direction because some of the newer players definitely showed some growth and progress from their earlier games.
