Mustangs run in Moose Invitational

Auburn, ME - The Mustangs men and women's cross country teams traveled to UMA Saturday morning for a five team meet to start the 2022 season. Both teams ran a moderately challenging 5k course and exceeded expectations for the day.

Sophomore Viktor Tripp led the way for Central Maine placing 11th out of 24 runners with a very calculated approach for his first meet. Clayton McCarthy placed 14th looks to be an impressive compliment to Tripp leading the Mustangs this fall. Sophomore Nolan Tosoni had his best effort this fall and looks to make a big push into the top pack of runners this season. Lucas Neudecker ran a strong race and a season personal best after battling injuries to start the season.

On the women's side, freshman Eve Schultz had a big opening weekend with an 11th place finish and her eyes set on a big performance in her next meet. Newcomer Madalyn Mercer, one of Central Maine's top hurdlers, ran her first 5k after a short preseason and looked strong on the course.

The Mustangs next compete at the Monks Invitational at St. Joseph's on October 8th
