Early sloppy play and the inability to take care of the ball placed the Mustangs in a first half hole Tuesday, trailing Unity by 3 at the half. Forty minutes of defensive pressure turned the tide as CM came from behind to thrash Unity in the 2nd half, 118-88.
CM was playing its fourth game in five days and the resulting fatigue played a major part in this contest. The Mustangs came out of the gate flat and fell behind but managed to keep the game tight in the first half. A halftime reality-check kicked in and CM came out of the locker room and poured in 80 points (59% shooting) and applied their patterned defensive pressure to ware down the Rams throughout the second half.
Preston Isner (Bealeton, VA) led the comeback with 8 points, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds in a 6 minute burst that opened up the second half. Isner led CM with a game high 24 points, 5 rebounds and 8 steals. Tyler White (Baltimore, MD) came off the bench to contribute 21 points in an 8-12 shooting performance. Carrington Miller (Bingham, ME) added 19 points in a 7-8 shooting evening. Kazre Cummings (Providence, RI) recorded his third double-double on the season by scoring 13 points and hauling down 10 rebounds.
Unity's Eddie Kopacz led all scorers with a 47-point outburst.
CM increases its record to 5-2 and Yankee Conference record to 1-0.
