Pittsburgh, PA – CMCC Men's and Women's Soccer picked up six All-American selections Thursday night at the USCAA Soccer Awards Ceremony in Pittsburgh. Ivan Domingues and Jeremiah Gomez were named 2024 USCAA DII Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Year, captain Alfie Bashford was given a 2nd-Team All-American nod, and Emma Knowles, Destiny Mooers and Madisyn Turcotte received 1st-Team All-American honors for women's soccer.
"We are proud and excited for our players who have achieved USCAA All-American status," said Athletic Director Dave Gonyea. "Their work effort has been exceptional and their dedication to our college and soccer programs is second to none. However, none of this can be done without a total program commitment with talented teammates and exceptional coaching. Congratulations to our All-Americans!"
Ivan Domingues adds the national Co-Player of the Year and 1st-Team All-American awards to what is already an impressive haul of achievements. The forward from Lewiston, ME is now a 2x USCAA 1st-Team All-American, 2x Yankee Small College Conference Player of the Year, 2x YSCC All-Conference, and was this year's YSCC Tournament Most Outstanding Offensive Player. Domingues has 60 career goals in 48 games, scoring 22 times this season.
Jeremiah Gomez finished tied with Domingues in the national Player of the Year voting to share the honor and is also a 1st-Team All-American. The sophomore from Thornton Academy has had a terrific campaign having also been selected YSCC All-Conference. The attacking midfielder is leading the nation in assists with 17 while also scoring nine goals. Gomez has registered at least one point in 14 of 17 matches.
Alfie Bashford receives 2nd-Team All-American honors having already been named to the YSCC All-Conference team. The second-year captain from Knutsford, England has been a rock on defense, helping CMCC keep ten clean sheets, allow just 14 goals and collect an astounding 15-1-2 record so far this campaign. The center back is the control tower for the spine of the team and even popped in his first career goal this season on senior night.
Emma Knowles adds 1st-Team All-American honors to her resume for the second straight year, having also received the award last season. The goalkeeper out of the Kents Hill School boasts a resume that also includes 2x YSCC Goalkeeper of the Year, YSCC All-Conference selection and the YSCC Tournament's Most Outstanding Defensive Player. The Manchester, ME native went 4-2-2 in 11 games in net with a .867 SV% and three shutouts while also scoring a goal in the field.
Madisyn Turcotte is a 1st-Team All-American for the first time in her career. The team captain and defender out of Edward Little High School is also a 2x YSCC All-Conference award winner after leading the women's soccer team to its first conference title in program history last season. This year, the Auburn, ME native helped the team lock down five shutouts and an unbeaten record in league play. Turcotte also managed to pick up her first assist in a 2-2 tie against archrivals SMCC.
Destiny Mooers concludes a fantastic first season with 1st-Team All-American honors. The YSCC All-Conference forward led the Mustangs in goals with 12 tallies in 14 games, the second most in the conference. The freshman out of Hampden Academy registered three multi-goal games and scored nine times in the final nine games of the campaign.
The fall sports season is not yet officially concluded, as men's soccer continues their quest for a first national championship. The Mustangs take on Penn State University-Lehigh Valley on Saturday, November 16th with a victory clinching a spot for them in the national title game.
