Mustangs Take Down Lynx in Home Opener

Auburn, ME - CM Mustangs started off their 2023 season with a sweep of NHTI on Tuesday night (25-15, 25-18,25-17).  Mustang fans packed the gym and created a great atmosphere for a special night.

CM started off the night making program history. Before the national anthem was played, the Mustangs dropped their very first banner, celebrating their Yankee Conference Championship and USCAA National Tournament appearance last season.  It was a special moment for all those involved with the program.

Once the game started, CM took control of the match quickly.  The Mustang's serve receive was on point all night, led by team captain Tiara Begishe and libero Gloria Seaman passing a 2.6 and 2.5 respectively.  With the serve receive playing so well, setter and captain Angelina Leonard was able to run a very balanced offense.  Over the course of the match, she tallied 24 assists with four players with over 5 kills.  Freshman Hayley Weymouth lead the Mustangs on offense with .310 hitting percentage and 8 kills.

After the match Coach Chapman said "I am proud of the way that we played tonight.  We still have a lot of work to do and things to refine, but I am confident that we will get there."

The Mustangs continue their season on Saturday with a double header against Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Paul Smith's College, a rematch of the Yankee Conference Championship from last year.
