Lundgren named new Cross Country Coach

Auburn ME - Central Maine Community College is pleased to announce the hiring of Colleen Lundgren CSCS, CPT, WFR as the Head Cross Country Coach for the Men's and Women's teams. Coach Lundgren brings years of coaching experience at the collegiate level and a passion for helping young adults reach their full potential. Her fun, engaging, and supportive coaching approach coupled with her studies in the fields of exercise science, nutrition, and health behavior change makes her an excellent fit for challenging and supporting our athletes.

Coach Lundgren began her journey with running at the junior high level and continued to compete through college while attending Western New England University in Springfield, MA and the University of Southern Maine. She holds a B.S. in Sports Medicine in Health and Fitness and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Applied Nutrition. She began her professional career as a Fitness Specialist for the Department of Defense at the Brunswick Naval Air Station and at Fairchild Semiconductor. She was responsible for leading commands and groups through training sessions and helping individuals to reach the fitness goals. For the past eight years, Coach Lundgren has been coaching graduate students at the University of New England. She has helped students reach a wide array of personal goals, including PR's in varying distance running events from 5k's to ultra-marathons.

Coach Lundgren's approach is to first and foremost make running and taking care of one's health, fun. She believes athlete success and progression will naturally fall into place when fun is achieved and maintained in training. Coach Lundgren is caring and compassionate and supports athletes growth not only physically, but also emotionally and mentally. Her studies in nutrition, exercise physiology, kinesiology, sports injury prevention, and health behavior change allow her to integrate these concepts into her training principles. She likes to focus on gradual progression so athletes can withstand a robust training and racing regimen not only today, but also in their future running endeavors.

Coach Lundgren enjoys being active through running, hiking, and biking. By far, her favorite past-time is long trail runs in Acadia National Park and the White Mountains National Forest. Her husband is also passionate about endurance sports and enjoys swimming, biking, running and competing in triathlons. Their Certified Therapy Dog, Kota, also enjoys running and you may catch a glimpse of her leading warm-ups and cool-downs, or giving high fives at local meets.
