Men's & Women's Cross Country compete in State Championships

Bangor, ME - The Mustangs had their first official race of the 2023 Cross Country season, as Husson University hosted the Maine State Cross Country Championships. This would be the fastest field the Mustangs will see all year and served well to get used to racing the 6k distance.

Leading the way on the women's side for Central Maine was Emily Quinnell (Auburn, ME) with a time of 27:30 and a strong run from the start. Elise Shultz (Windham, ME) came across the line next with a 31:29 to start her collegiate career and an easy effort for a great result. Eve Schultz and Kayla Blanchard rounded out the squad pacing each other the entire way.

On the men's side, Josh Bradford (Boylston, MA) led the Mustangs, with Tristian Cormier (Bridgeton, ME), Bryan Gagnon (Wiscasset, ME) and Ben Simpson (Minot, ME) having strong races to begin their collegiate career. Track athlete, Eli Morgan (Auburn, ME) and Chris Roy (Plymouth, ME) rounded out the scoring positions for Central Maine, while New comer Mark Schepici (Boston, MA) and Bryan Beaucage (Canton, ME) rounded out the field of athletes.

Next up for the Mustangs is a trip to St. Joseph's College and then to Thomas College as they prepare for YSCC Championships.
