Men's Hockey Hosts Prospect Camp

Auburn, ME — Players from around the country and world descended on Auburn March 6th for the first annual CM Hockey Prospect Camp.

Central Maine plans on introducing Hockey next fall and invited prospective players to a camp to be evaluated by the coaching staff and others.  Participants included players from Sweden, The Netherland's, and in the United States: Texas, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine were all represented.   Players who were not present but in contact with Coach Cady include five Canadian players, one Russian player, one Norwegian player, One Slovakian player, and many more from the United States.

Camp evaluators included Bruce Gillies, former UNH & NHL Edmonton Oilers professional goalie, Len Hachborn, LA Kings & Philadelphia Flyers Center who played 19 years professionally, and Jeff Beanie, Long-time Division III hockey coach at USM

According to CM Hockey Coach Kevin Cady, "We had top rate evaluators who know hockey talent and were able to pinpoint strengths and weakness.  We brought in kids from North America and Europe and some raised eyebrows. I feel we have selected players that will form the base foundation of our future in men's ACHA D-II hockey."

CM Athletic Director, Dave Gonyea, stated, "Our plan is to create a hockey program not only the college will be proud of but will represent our community as well.  Coach Cady has national contacts and is bringing to Auburn top notch talent for our program.  CM is proud to be a state leader in developing strong athletic and academic programs."
