Men's Soccer falls in season opener

Auburn, ME - The CMCC 2015 Men's Soccer Team opened the season at home against University of Maine Machias Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs played well in the midfield and held off the Clippers for forty minutes before Pablo Argumedo collected a ball from twenty yards out and scored. The score held 1-0 Clippers at halftime.

The Clippers came out strong in the second half and had multiple chances to further their lead. Fifteen minutes in Ruud Casseus provided a pass to Haidar Al-Freihy who found the back of the net to take the score to 2-0. Eight minutes later Rafael Reyes crossed to Jairo Castillo to put the Clippers up 3-0. The Mustangs were able to get a couple of good looks but were not able to finish anything. After an unsuccessful Mustangs corner kick Everett Senetar broke loose and scored for Machias with just five seconds remaining.

CMCC had five shots on goal while U. Maine Machias had eleven. Mustang's goalkeeper Zachary Lowe came up with seven saves while Robert Devone stopped all five he faced for the Clippers.

Defensively Derek Goselin and Aden Mohamed played very well for CM. After the game Coach Wallace said, "For the first 40 minutes we played extremely well. Eventually, Machias was able to take advantage of some weaknesses we had in the midfield and they attacked from the outside in. We need to be able to defend against that and transition from defense to offence faster to compete with teams like Machias."
