Seawolves handle Mustangs

Auburn, ME - The CM Mustangs hosted the SMCC Seawolves Wednesday afternoon in Auburn. SMCC's Douglas Cloutier scored 6:29 into the match. CM battled back and had a few missed opportunities before Steve Rwendeye of SMCC caught CMCC in transition with just two minutes left in the first half, giving the Seawolves a 2-0 advantage.

Just five minutes into the second half a red card to CM forced the Mustangs to play down a man for the remaining forty minutes. CM fought well but couldn't finish, and with eighteen minutes remaining Sean Jackson collected a pass across the middle from Ahmed Al-Shammari and scored to seal a 3-0 win.

Mustang's goalkeeper Zachary Lowe (Mechanic Falls, ME) had ten saves in goal while Seawolves goalkeeper Drew Martin saved all three to preserve the shutout.

After the match Coach Wallace said, "Our players competed for about fifty-five minutes today, sadly the best ten minutes of play for us was right after we went down a player due to the red card. After that SMCC began to out work us and our players were playing frustrated. We need to have a team conversation at practice tomorrow about mental toughness."
