Rams hang on, defeat Mustangs

Unity, ME - For their second conference game of the season the men's soccer team travelled to Unity College Wednesday afternoon. The Rams wasted no time and Francesco Guerrero gathered a throw in to put Unity ahead just one minute into the match. CMCC turned up the pressure and ten minutes later Fiston Mubalama (Lewiston, ME) received a bouncing pass in the box from Kenneth Ball (Lewiston, ME) which he volleyed into the goal to tie the game at one apiece. But the tide turned again when Francesco Guerrero scored his second of the match after a botched free kick and a rebound off of Mustangs goalkeeper Zachary Lowe (Mechanic Falls, ME). The Mustangs found themselves in further trouble when Jonathan Brock collected a corner kick in the box and scored. That goal brought the score to three to one in favor of Unity, and the score held until the half.

CM received some motivation at halftime from coaches Jeff Joiner and Bryan Wallace. Just 1:11 in, Abdillahi Hussein (Lewiston, ME) pushed a ball up to forward Fiston Mubalama who scored his second of the day. The remainder of the game saw opportunities from both teams but neither could score. Lowe had nine saves for CMCC while Mackenzie Michaud had four for Unity.

Midfileder and co-captain Zachary Johnson (Greene, ME) played very well in the center of the field for the Mustangs.
