Auburn, ME - Head ice hockey coach Matt Buotte is thrilled to announce the commitment of goaltender Anthony Tilelli. Tilelli comes to Central Maine after a stellar senior high school season which saw him carry his team to a state final, posting a 2.10 GAA and four shutouts in regular season play. Tilelli was one of eight finalists for Arizona's high school boys' hockey player of the year.

Tilelli, a Brooklyn native, is familiar with the region after spending his youth playing up and down the east coast. After playing AAA for the Northern Cyclones he then tended the nets for the Boston Bandits before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona before his junior year of high school. From there, Tilelli went on to lead Horizon High School to a state final appearance where they were ultimately defeated by a goal.

"We are thrilled to be adding Anthony," said head coach Matt Buotte. "He is a great kid who moves well in the net and has a level-headed demeanor. Goaltender is an extremely important position and we feel as though we are adding to a strong core with a great guy and a quality hockey player."

Off the ice, Tilelli plans on studying criminal justice in the fall.

"The main reason I picked Central Maine is the excellent criminal justice program," explained Tilelli. "My dad worked as a corrections officer and I want to follow in his footsteps."

Tilelli, who lead all Arizona high school goaltenders in minutes played during the 2017-2018 season, plans to bring his workhorse mentality to Central Maine.

"I will help my team by keeping my positive work ethic and always putting myself before the team," he said. "I will work just as hard off the ice as I do on the ice. At the end of the day, I just want to win some games as a team."
