Men's Soccer falls to UMaine-Machias

Machias, ME - CM Men's soccer team played their first conference game on Sunday, taking on the Clippers of UMaine-Machias. The Mustangs started strong with the first 25-minutes with sound passing and play. Then at 25:59, Lorenzo Seguar struck first for the Clippers with an assist from Raphael Reyes. With only 1-minute left in the half, Suja Ahmed scored on a cross from Jairo Castillo, closing at half time with score 2-0 in favor of Machias.

Just 2.5-minutes into the second half, the Clippers scored again, this time it was a Haldar Al-Freihy shot. The Mustangs rallied and answered when Josh St. Pierre, from outside the 18-yard line, drove home a Mustang goal. Mustang defense got busy and held the Clippers off until 72:58 when Jairo Castillo scored from a cross by Lorenzo Segura bringing the score to 4-1. Just 5-minutes later, Jairo Castillo finished his day strong with his second goal on an assist from Suja Ahmed. Mustang keeper, Austin Wing, had 13 saves for the day. Machias clipped the Mustangs by a final of 5-1.
