Softball Comes Up Short Against UNH-Club

Game 1

CM pitcher Michell Malia threw the entire game for CM.  UNH took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning and added 5 more in the top of the 2nd.  With 2 runners in place, CM power hitter, Laura Soohey, ripped the ball deep for a 3 run homerun.  CM hitters continued to work hard at the plate.  Soohey went 3 for 3 for the game.  Taylor Pare had a triple and Erica Brochu had 2 doubles.  Miranda Levesque, Dani Wadsworth, and Heather  Doiron each reached with singles.  UNH added to their lead and earned the win 11-3.

 

Game 2

Erica Brochu took the mound for CM and Miranda Levesque came into relief in the 5th.  CM bats were very active loading the bases twice in the game.  Game was tied 2-2 at the completion of the 3rd.  The 4th inning was the difference in the game with UNH crossing the plate 7 times.  CM didn't give up and brought 4 runs in the 5th.  Erica Brochu went 4 for 4 in game 2.  Taylor Pare, Steph Mullins, and Miranda Levesue each batted 2 for 4.  Michelle Malia was the lone Mustang to have a multiple base hit with a double.  CM closed the gap, but fell short with a 13-8 final to UNH.

CM heads to Bangor to take on Eastern Maine Community College for another double-header on Sunday, September 30th.
