CM opened their season with freshman Erica Brochu (Lewiston, ME) on the mound to take on the Golden Eagles of Eastern Maine Community College.  CM took a 2-0 lead with Brochu and captain, Laura Soohey (Bremen, ME), crossing the plate.  Soohey drove in Brochu on a double.  Taylor Pare (Bowdoinham, ME) batted next and scored Soohey with a hard hit single.

EM scored a pair in the bottom of the second to tie the game. EM added one run in the fourth to take the lead 3-2. Walks and defensive errors allowed EM to build a 6-2 going into the seventh inning.

CM got the bats going and loaded the bases twice in the inning.  Brochu and Samantha Bruce (Madison, ME) each crossed the plate to bring the score close.  CM fell short of the comeback to lose the opener 6-4.
