Bats quiet as Softball drops both games of double-header

SOUTH PORTLAND, ME - The CM Mustangs drop both games to Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) in a Yankee Small College Conference Double Header (YSCC).

Game 1

Sophomore Olivia York (Bethel, ME) took in the circle to go the distance in game one. The right-hander allowed 6 hits while fanning 4.  SMCC started Kristen Mackenzie who had 8 strikeouts and only allowed 4 hits the SeaWolves kept the Mustangs Bats quit.

The Seawolves scored three in the third three in the forth and one in the fifth to keep the Mustangs off balance. . The Mustangs got one back in the sixth as Haley Peterson (Bethel, ME) was knocked in by Abby Fogg (Buckfield, ME).

Game 2

Coach Robertson turned to Freshman Alex Bessy (Jay, ME) in the second game. Bessey went two innings giving up 6 hits and striking out three before being replaced by game one starter York who went three innings giving up four hits while striking out four. The Mustangs who continued to struggle at the plate only had two hits. One being a double which knocked in the only run by the Mustangs.

SMCC's went with Sarah Guimond who struck out eleven while walking one and only allowing two hits.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, Apr. 21 when they travel to NHTI in a conference doubleheader beginning at 11am.
