Mustangs struggle at plate, swept by NHTI

Concord, NH - The CM Mustangs softball team suffered a sweep in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) double-header to the Lynx at NHTI on Saturday, Apr. 21.

Game 1

The Lynx jumped on the Mustangs early scoring eight in their first at-bats. The Lynx then went on to score nine in the second and three in third inning. The Mustangs got two back in the third when Kiara Hunter (Wiscasset, ME) got on base with a single followed by an Alex Bessey (Jay, ME) double. They both scored with a fence-hitting double by Ali Sult.

Mustangs starter Alex Bessy suffered the loss; Brianna Whitcomb recorded the win for the Lynx.

Game 2

The Mustangs turned to Cagney Obrian (Bothbay Harbor, ME) who made her first start of the season. Opposite was Lynx ace Tori Lemay who was near perfect and utilized 10 strikeouts to one hit the Mustangs in her four innings of work. Lemay allowed three base runners by way of two walks and one hit.

Ellie Harrington (Fareham, Hampshire, UK) had the only two hits for the Mustangs  both being singles one in the third and one in the fifth.

The Mustangs return to action on Sunday, April 22 when they travel to Lawrence, MA to take on Northern Essex Community College in a non-conference double-header beginning at 1 p.m.
