Mustangs JV top Hampshire

Amherst, MA- After many practice hours and scrimmages the Mustangs finally hit the road for their first real, long-awaited game today. While both the game and the trip provided many bumps of its own, the Mustangs were able to overcome a poor shooting performance as a team to earn their first win of the season. The Mustangs battled on the defensive end, turning defense into offense to get easy baskets to overcome their woeful shooting night from the field and from the line.

After a back and forth first half in which both teams started slowly from the field, the Mustangs ended the half on a 9-2 run to take a 34-27 lead into halftime. Second half adjustments saw the Mustangs extend their halftime lead with a 12-3 run to start the half. Both teams battled throughout the remainder of the half, but the initial Mustangs run was enough to prevail with a 73-61 road victory.

Abdullahi "Ellye" Abdullahi paced the Mustangs on both ends of the floor, making impact defensive plays while also leading the team in scoring with 20 points. Bailey Brown's rebounding performance and Michael Moon's defensive prowess were impressive for the Mustangs in the victory. Hampshire College was led by Davis with 20 points.
