Mustangs Fall In NECHA Championship

Mustangs Fall In NECHA Championship
Nashua, NH -  Championship day gave the Mustangs a familiar opponent in Dartmouth college who they had faced 3 times prior to Sunday. All the games between these 2 great hockey teams had been 1 goal hockey games, and Sunday delivered a familiar story but unfortunately it was the Mustangs who ended up losing 3-2 making them runners-up in the NECHA Division.

In the first period the Mustangs had some jitters and made a couple crucial mistakes to put themselves behind 2-0. However the team responded with some great offensive pressure but between missed opportunities and quick whistles the first goal wouldn't fall quick enough. The Mustangs broke trough late in the 3rd period and followed it up with the 2nd goal while having pulled their goaltender. Unfortunately the 3rd goal would never come after the Mustangs put a solid effort together outshooting Dartmouth 36-23. "We dug ourselves a hole early. I felt like we recovered but it was the wrong day not to have luck on our side between missed opportunities and couple bounces not falling our way," said Coach Knoren.

This is what Coach Knoren, had to say about this hockey team: "This lost hurts and stings a lot and it will take sometime to get over, we are like a family and just want to continue playing all the way till the end and have a chance to play at the National Tournament. Not many people and teams would probably have believed that we would be this dangerous in our first year eligible but we have proved that we can compete at the championship level, our coaching staff is beyond proud of the commitment of each individual on this hockey team. This team will remember how this lost felt and it will energize them to continue working hard and be even better next year to win that championship.''
