Mustangs Turn Focus to UCONN

Auburn, ME - CM looks to compete for the first time in the NECHA conference tournament. They will meet UCONN in the semifinal round after UCONN beat WPI 1-0 to advance.

When the Mustangs were accepted into the NECHA as a full member back in August, it allowed the team to participate in the post season activities with the ability to move forward and play in the national ACHA tournament. Now they are the #1 seed in the tournament with the opportunity to make some noise starting with their first game. For head coach Jordy Knoren, this moment is extra special as he has been with the program since day one. "I know what it means to the school and everybody involved. Many people have worked hard to establish the program to where it is now and we are determined to make them proud this weekend," add Knoren.

CM finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-2-1 and a conference record of 12-1-1. All year the Mustangs have played team hockey with the goal scoring being spread out between several players as 19 different Mustangs have scored this season. This is a special group of players that are fighting for the same goal of winning a conference championship and going to the national tournament. Knoren commented on what to expect in the playoffs, "Playoff hockey is the best time of the year. Intensity levels get raised up a notch and teams fight to live another day, to continue playing with their family for another day." Look for the Mustangs to compete for the entire game and finish every each period strong. They are a very disciplined and patient team that has bought into the game plan each night.

The Mustangs will face UCONN Saturday at 11:10am at the Conway Arena in Nashua, NH. The winner of the CM/UCONN game will face the winner of the Harvard/Dartmouth game for the conference championship on Sunday at 2:40pm at the same location.
