Auburn, ME- Poor shooting and defensive lapses cost the Mustangs Thursday as Great Bay Community College came into Kirk Hall and stomped the home team 84-72.
CM scored the opening hoop, and never led again. The Herons shooters hit shots early taking a double-digit lead going into halftime 48-37.
A couple of key Mustang turnovers early in the second half propelled the Herons to a 20-point lead. However, the Mustangs were able to cut the lead to 10 points at the seven-minute mark, but again, shot themselves in the foot with turnovers, and a poor shot selection.
Mpore Semuhoza led the Mustangs with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Wyatt Hathaway added 14 points. Boston Caldwell contributed 11 points and 7 rebounds.
The Mustangs will lick their wounds, regroup and come back.
CM hosts Bryan Stratton of Albany Saturday at 3pm.
