St. Joseph's Stifles CM

St. Joseph's Stifles CM

Auburn, ME - St. Joseph's College outplayed Central Maine Community College in men's ice hockey Friday night, winning 10-5.  The Monks scored five goals in the third period to separate the game and seal the deal in the first of three games for the Mustangs this weekend.

The first period brought a lot of back and forth transition, while only producing a goal from each side.  Mustangs' captain Jordy Knoren had the goal assisted by Nate Foye and Alex Barone.  "I think we had a pretty flat period overall and for us to get out that period tied at one we definitely felt we had to capitalize right away in the second.  We have to get our feet moving," Coach Poulin said after the first.

The second period brought the opposite of the first. Seven goals were scored between the two teams, with St. Joseph's getting the edge leading 5-4 after two periods.  Collin Sheehan, Jordan Eurenius, and Sean Coleman added the goals for CM.

In the third period, St. Joseph's scored five goals in the first half of the frame while the Mustangs could do nothing but watch the outburst.  Sean Coleman scored late in the game to bring the game to its final of 10-5.  "We were disappointed with the finish. We felt after the second period we had more to give in the third and they came out flying and I don't think we were ready.  We broke down early on and they capitalized. Plain and simple" Coach Poulin finished.

The Mustangs take on Bates College tomorrow night at home at Norway Savings Bank Arena.
