Danielle McCusker became only the 3rd Lady Mustang to break the 1,000th point barrier, and CM clinched the YSCC Regular Season Championship with a pivotol conference win over UMaine-Machias.
McCusker sat only 13 points away from the barrier to start the game, and poured in 10 first half points to inch closer. Like she has done so many times in her career, McCusker launched a 3-point shot from the corner to reach 1,000. McCusker finished with 19 points and 5 rebounds.
The game was a battle for the first 30-minutes, with the Lady Clippers of Machias holding a 46-43 lead at the half. CM started the 2nd half on an 8-0 run to take the lead for good and pulled away extending their lead to as much as 21 points (79-58).
Leading the way for the Lady Mustangs was Susie French who recorded a career-high 33 points to go along with 12 rebounds (8 offensive), 6 assists and 5 steals. Nohemy Aguila came off the bench to score 16 points, including two big 3's. Maggie Sabine tallied just 6 points, but pulled down 11 rebounds and handed out 6 assists.
Leading Machias was Yvanessa Vincent with 22 points and 16 rebounds. The Lady Clippers fall to 14-7 overall and 10-3 in the YSCC.
With the win the Lady Mustangs improve to 17-4 and 12-0 in the Yankee Conference.
