CCRI struck first in a game of runs and opened up the contest with an 11-0 run. The Last Mustangs (3-1) did not back down from the intense CCRI pressure, rattling off a 10-0 run of their own and taking a 5-point lead into the half.
CM used intense half-court defense to stymie the relentless Knights of CCRI time and time again. The game went back and forth as both teams made runs at each other, with each team refusing to let the other get to far ahead.
CCRI made the final push, an 11-3 run with 2:30 minutes left to put the game out of reach.
Maggie Sabine led the Mustangs with 18 points and 10 rebounds, her 2nd double-double in 4 games – and also took 3 offensive fouls to anchor the Mustang defense. Danielle McCusker continued her hot shooting, tallying 17 points and hauling in 7 rebounds and Corrina Kinder dropped in 10 points and dished out 5 assists. Susie French led a relentless defensive assault and contributed 16 points and 7 rebounds.
The Lady Mustangs are back in action on Tuesday, November 6th when they travel to Unity College for their Yankee Conference Opener.
