Auburn, ME - Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, announced that Morse High School senior standout, Sierra Wallace, has committed to the Lady Mustangs for next school year.  Wallace will study Life Sciences while at CM and will be a part of the Honors Program.  In her time at Morse, Wallace has played 4 years of varsity basketball, soccer, and softball, while also being Secretary of the National Honor Society and the recipient of the Saint Michael's Book Award.

According to Wallace, "My original plan was to go out-of-state for college and focus on pre-vet for four years and then on to vet school. As I was looking, there were very few colleges that also had a high level basketball program.  I didn't think it was possible to find a school that was the perfect fit, until I toured CM. The campus was just the right size and everyone seemed to not only know each other but care as well. There was a sense of community, one that I am excited to be a part of. Academically, I am able to get all my sciences done in CM's amazing Life Sciences program, just as I would anywhere else; biology, chemistry, A&P, organic chemistry, but without breaking the bank. Not only do I get to play basketball in college, but I know I am going to play in a program that is a good fit for me. I am going to be challenged, pushed to my potential, have my competitiveness utilized, and on top of everything, enjoy being on the court. I can't wait to be apart of a team that is so close with each other and works together so well. I will bring my competitive attitude and determination to the team, and do whatever I can to help us win a championship."

Coach Morong on the commitment, "This is SO exciting for many, many reasons.  First and foremost, Sierra is an amazing young woman, who is determined to be successful in anything she engages herself in. Secondly, there is a lot of history here. Not only am I a Morse High School grad, but Sierra's mother and aunt both played varsity basketball for my father, Tom, while he was the long-time girls basketball coach at Morse.  We have seen Sierra play for her high school team, in an AAU national event, and in showcases, and we just love what she brings to the table.  Like all freshman, her first-year success will be determined by how committed she is to the strength and conditioning program over the summer.  She has the basketball IQ, creativity, and skill-set to score, defend, and make other people around her better at our level."
