Women's Basketball announces captains

Auburn, ME - Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, is pleased to announce the 2021-22 women's basketball captains. First-year point guards, Luna Love and Safena Te Nana-Williams, will join lone-returner, Eliza Brault as captains.

According to Coach Morong, "During the last eighteen months away from the court, our program has still been very active. Eliza has really stepped up and helped keep things moving in the right direction. With fifteen newcomers, we could not have asked for a better ambassador to introduce our program. Eliza is nurturing and innately positive, and that is exactly what a young team needs. Luna and Saf bring a tremendous amount of international experience to the table. As point guards, they will have the ball in the hands more than any other position. They both have an incredible drive to improve their game and fitness, and to hold others to the same standards. I am looking forward to all three of them growing as leaders, and helping our team grow on and off the court this season."

Brault commented, "For me, being a captain at CM is a huge responsibility. In order for the team to follow, it is important to lead by example. Saf and Luna are great leaders as well, and to have their support is something I truly appreciate. The standards or our program are something we, and our alumni, take a lot of pride in. It is a tremendous honor to be in a position where I can directly help facilitate those standards."

Love remarked, "Being a captain means making the team better by leading by example. We must be OK with holding each other accountable. We also must do whatever it takes to get better, every day - on and off the court."

Te Nana-Williams added, "As a captain, I need the team as much as the team needs me. A great leader, teammate, captain is one that can keep the team connected and engaged. We set the standards, maintain the standards and keep people accountable to those standards. It is going to be a learning process for all us."
