Women's Soccer falls flat against SUNY ESF

Syracuse, NY - Following a really well-played game but a loss to Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Science on Friday night, the Mustangs traveled another 2½ hours west to take on the SUNY ESF Might Oaks. With the majority of Friday nights lineup going 90-minutes against Albany, the Mustangs used a combination of freshman and returners against a very strong Mighty Oaks team.

Central Maine never really got going and from the opening whistle it was not a competitive game. It only took a few minutes for ESF to get on the scoreboard and a second goal came shortly after. The Mustangs began to play after that but never really had the energy to match the Mighty Oaks attack and by halftime it was 5-0 ESF.

The second half was not much better although the Mustangs had a few good chances at the Mighty Oaks net that came up short. In a cleanly played game where the referees hardly had reason to call any fouls it was a low energy game for Central Maine that ended in a 7-0 loss.

The Mustangs will take a couple of days off to rest before being back in action at home on Wednesday, October 4th vs. University of Maine at Augusta Moose in a 4pm kickoff on the Mustang Turf Complex.
