Women's Soccer wins regular season finale

Pottersville, NY - The Mustangs traveled back to New York to close out their regular season with a first ever matchup against USCAA foe, Word of Life. Going into the match on a 5-game winning streak and not giving up a goal since Oct 9, Central Maine was balancing the desire to finish the regular season with a record 9 wins with the need to keep the entire knife edge sharp in preparation for the playoffs next weekend. In the end they were able to do both.

Lakyn Hink (Porter, ME) put the Mustangs up 1-0 in the third minute of the game off a pass out of the back by Emily Dillman (Wales, ME). Hink would score her second goal five minutes later off a pass by Madison Valentine (Minot, ME). In the 20th minute, Natalie Tracy (Oakland, ME) got on the score sheet with an unassisted goal to put Central Maine up 3-0. Just over ten minutes later Hink would set up Tracy for her second of the game and a 4-0 Central Maine lead that they would take into halftime.

The second half began with an entirely different lineup and in the 73rd minute Emma Knowles (Manchester, ME), on the field for this half instead of the net, gathered a ball sent up field by Alexia Chaloux (Greene, ME) and took it to net for a 5-0 Mustangs lead. With seven minutes left in the game, Katie Blouin (Greene, ME), who had just re-entered, was set up for a breakaway by Madison Eastman (Hiram, ME) and Parker Hill (Minot, ME).

Emma Knowles handled the first half in net for the Mustangs with no saves and Ava Simpson (Lewiston, ME) was in goal for the second half making 5 saves to secure the 6-0 shutout win.

The Mustangs concluded their regular season and now will face NHTI in a Yankee Small College Conference semi-final game on Saturday, October 28th at 2pm at the Mustang Turf Complex.
