Women's Soccer Falls in Season Finale

Women's Soccer Falls in Season Finale

Concord, NH - In their final game of the season the Lady Mustangs traveled to play NHTI, the top team in YSCC West in Concord, NH.  The Mustangs were a little banged up from their previous game earlier in the week but they pushed through to turn in a solid performance against a strong NHTI team.  Although the score didn't reflect it, the majority of the game was played at midfield in a two-way battle between both teams.  Like most of the previous games, the Mustangs gave up a few early goals in the first fifteen minutes, but then settled in to play up and down the field.  NHTI would get two more over the course of the next 30 minutes to end first half at 5-0.

The second half began with more control by the Mustangs, not giving up a goal in the first fifteen minutes of the half.   Fatigue began to take over and NHTI had a string of four goals in five minutes, but the Mustangs pushed on to the finish.   The game and Mustangs season ended with an 11-0 final score, but the players left the field with their heads held high because they completed a season under very difficult circumstances.

The referees and opposing coach commented at the end of the game at the incredible level of composure and verbal support shown on the field by the Mustang players and opposing coach and referees plus the NHTI team mentioned the extent to which CMCC never gave up, never stopped playing and pushed hard right to the final whistle.  Those comments could be considered a summary of the entire season and a tribute to the heart shown by these players all year.
