Forty minutes of full court sustained pressure paid dividends as the Mustangs wore down the Knights of Vermont Tech today and walked away with a 64-59 victory. Despite trailing most of the contest, CM mounted a second half run outscoring the Knights 23-14 in the last five minutes of the game. Lewiston graduate Eric Wilson came off the bench in the second half to draw two critical, tempo-changing offensive fouls in the last eight minutes. Edward Little graduate Brandon Giguere drained a three with 2:37 on the clock in the final frame to put the home team up by three points. Solid defensive play by veteran Samson Olayemi and Jalen Lincoln in the last minute of the game secured the win. Once again a balanced scoring attack led CM; Ismail Rios and Jalen Lincoln each had 13 points to lead the winners. CM's pressure forced 22 turnovers to the travel weary Knights. All-Yankee player Alex Tyrell and freshman Sam Marler led Vermont Tech with 14 points each.
The win increases the Mustangs Yankee Conference record to 5-1 which propels them atop the conference. This Wednesday, Dec 5th is the showdown at Kirk Hall as the Mustangs entertain in state rival Southern Maine Community College in an 8pm contest.
