Mustangs Drop 3rd in a Row

Augusta, ME – The Mustangs dropped their third game in a row Tuesday as the UMA Moose knocked out the Mustangs 83-72 in overtime. Trailing most of the game, the visitors came back on a Jackson Birmingham bucket to take a one-point lead with 27 seconds left in regulation. A strong stand on the defensive end allowed a Moose free throw to tie the score with 7.7 seconds on the clock. A costly Mustang turnover with seconds left put the game into overtime.

The Moose then ran off six straight points to take the lead and never looked back.

After another dismal performance by the Mustang starters, Coach Gonyea reflected, "obviously our go- to players are underperforming. I wish I could say we will move forward, but changes need to be made for our upcoming weekend home games. We simply are not getting it done on the defensive end and our three-point shooting has been terrible. I have said it several times this season, our squad lacks the toughness and physicality to put teams away. That is a reflection of our player selection and their commitment level. It's time to move on from some players and give others a chance to prove themselves."

The squad will regroup and host Paul Smith College Saturday and Vermont State University at Randolph Sunday.
