Women's Basketball routs NHTI, clinches top seed

Concord, NH - Not only did the earn the 105-44 blowout win over NHTI, but they also clinched their 6th straight Yankee Conference Regular Season Championship and the top seed in the upcoming YSCC Conference Tournament. Their full potential was on display for 40-minutes with their depth and versatility overpowering the Lynx. Six Mustangs scored in double-figures to lead them to a season-high 105 points.

Emily Strachan (Lewiston, ME) played awesome in limited minutes. She registered 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals in just 17-minutes of action. Making only her second career start in her homecoming game in New Hampshire, Elizabeth Barrientos (Manchester, NH), recorded a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Mikenzie Melendez (Saco, ME) and Rayna Duzant (St. Albans, NY) scored 13 points each. Melendez added 3 steals and 3 assists, while Duzant tallied 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. Chantel Ouellette (Auburn, ME) and Destiny Mora Lopez (The Dalles, OR) scored 10 points a piece.

Jade Smedberg (Oxford, ME) pulled down 10 rebounds. Fourteen of the sixteen Mustangs who suited up for the game found the scoring column while thirteen of them recorded at least 1 assists. 

Janessa Lofton led the Lynx with 19 points.

With the win the Mustangs improve 23-2 overall and 13-0 in the YSCC. They will be back in action on Wednesday, February 15th, when they host the Seawolves of Southern Maine Community College at 6:00pm. Prior to tip-off the Mustangs will be recognizing the 11 sophomores who will be graduating in May. Please arrive to the game before 5:15pm as both games will be at full capacity.
