Waterville, ME – The Central Maine Community College cross country team hit the trail for the Thomas College Invitational meet on Saturday in Waterville, one of nine schools taking part. Four Mustangs runners competed in the 6k distance while Elise Schultz represented the women's team on the 4k route.
The men's course proved a fast one with Owen Heseltine and Zachary Peirce setting their fastest times of the season. Brosnan Comeau came home with the squad's best result, placing 10th overall with a time of 23:47.1, while Heseltine (24:52.7) and Peirce (25:46.7) finished 15th and 17th respectively. Mark Schepici rounded out CMCC's results with a near-personal best 30:21.0 result.
Schultz blasted through the women's course for a time of 20:52.2 to finish 13th overall in the field of 24 runners.
Head coach Brian McDonald was pleased with the team's performance through the first month of the season. The Mustangs have a few meets left before the YSCC Championship at the end of October. Central Maine next travels up to Bangor for the Husson Invitational meet on October 12th.
