Cross Country Competes in Lake Auburn Half Marathon & 5k

Auburn, ME – The Central Maine Community College cross country team opened its season with an early morning run at the Lake Auburn Half Marathon and 5k at nearby Lost Valley Ski Resort.

Three athletes competed in the half marathon with Joshua Bradford placing 2nd overall with a time of 1:25:10. He was closely followed by Zachary Peirce crossing the finish at 1:32:05, good for 4th overall. Mark Schepici clocked his first ever 13.1 mile race in 2:02:34 and has helped to lead the team all preseason.

In the 5k, Brosnan Comeau led a calculated race placing first overall with a time of 18:54. Owen Heseltine placed 5th in 20:35 looking strong while doing so. Elise Schultz respresented the women's team with a 12th overall best time of 25:26.

Head Coach Brian McDonald was not only pleased with the teamwork from the squad and where they are at this point in the preseason, but also with the support from all the CMCC athletic teams, with fall and winter sports squads volunteering their time to man the race course.

The Mustangs also don't have to go very far for their meet, as it takes place at the Maine State Cross Country Championships hosted by Bates College in Lewiston, ME on September 21st.
