Bangor, ME – The CMCC cross country team traveled to Bangor to compete in the Husson Harrier event put on by the Husson University Eagles on a windy Saturday morning.
Brosnan Comeau posted a team-best time of 30:34.3 to finish 12th overall in a field dotted with runners from Husson, UMaine-Farmington, Thomas College, UMaine-Presque Isle, and UMaine-Augusta. It was the best 8k run by more than a full minute for the Monmouth Academy product.
Owen Heseltine also had a personal best, as he came home 18th with a run 32:53.4. Zachary Peirce finished 22nd in a time of 35:21.3 and Mark Schepici rounded out the squad with a 40:50.4, improving by more than two minutes on his time on the same course a year ago.
On the women's side, Elise Schultz turned in a time of 31:10.1 in the 6k race to finish 25th overall.
"The wind made for a hard race today," said head coach Brian McDonald. "The entire team hit course records or collegiate records for themselves, which is where we want to be.
It's a good sign for the Mustangs program with still a couple weeks to go until the YSCC Championships. Central Maine will take to the trail one more time before then, competing at the "Runnin' Monks Invite" hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday, October 19th.
