Cross Country Wraps Up Season at YSCC Championships

Amherst, MA – The CMCC Cross Country team ran its final race of the fall season on Saturday morning, competing at the YSCC Championships hosted by Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. Brosnan Comeau posted the fastest time of the day for the Mustangs, finishing 9th in the Men's 8K.

The men's team ended the day 6th place overall on 115 points, losing out on a tiebreaker with the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Panthers.

Comeau's time of 30:40.71 saw him just miss out on the top eight places for YSCC All-Conference honors. Owen Heseltine finished 16th overall in 33:04.60 just ahead of Zachary Peirce who came home 21st with a 33:57.20.

Mark Schepici continued his fall season of improvements and personal bests by running the fastest race of his collegiate career in 38:07.80 to finish 38th. Christopher Roy (46th in 44:50.30) and Bryan Beaucage (48th in 47:39.70) rounded out the field for the Mustangs.

In the Women's 6K race Elise Schultz ran a 30:02.90 to finish 11th in the field of 28 runners. It was the fastest time of the season by more than a minute for the second-year runner out of Windham High School.

Paul Smith's College would take both the Men's and Women's team events. The Bobcats won the men's side ahead of Word of Life Bible Institute, and took the women's title by just one point over Hampshire. Eli Lemire won the men's individual title for NHTI with a 27:42.50 while Word of Life's Angelina Pusateri took home the women's crown in 24:24.30.

"The field was very fast," said head coach Brian McDonald. "All of our runners really pushed themselves this year, breaking their own season and collegiate bests multiple times. I couldn't be any prouder of how these athletes have truly grown within the sport."

That wraps up the fall season for the cross country team, but many of these athletes will also be competing in the Men's and Women's Track & Field season once the calendar flips to 2025.
