Palmer Announces Baseball Captains

Auburn, ME- CM head baseball coach Ryan Palmer is pleased to announce that Reid Cote (Sabattus, ME) and Will Bean (Rumford, ME) have been named team captains for the 2021 spring season. Cote is studying Criminal Justice while Bean is studying Precision Machining. Both Cote and Bean will help carry the load as we have a mixed bag of freshmen/sophomores on the field for the Mustangs.  "They both need to be leaders on and off the field," commented head coach Ryan Palmer.

Cote commented "to be a team captain of the team gives me a feeling of excitement.  I get to fill the role of being a leader that everybody wants to be someday. I am excited to help give players feedback on how they are doing and help motivate players on and off the field."

Bean commented "being called a captain is one thing, but acting like one is another. I'm very appreciative to have this opportunity to be a leader in the sport I love. If there is one thing I have learned from also being a captain in high school, it's that actions speak louder than words. Keeping a positive team attitude and morale is critical to a team's success. I believe it will be in the team's best interests, if I can provide and set the example to the best of my ability. Collective team success is the main priority, in my eyes." Cote and Bean will be on the teams pitching staff as well as seeing action in the infield. Cote at first base and Bean at third base.

According to Coach Palmer, "In my sixteen years of coaching, when it comes to naming team captains, this year might have been the easiest to choose. Reid and Will were absolute no brainers. Student athletes like these two who put just as much time in the classroom as they do on the field are a great recipe for success. I very much look forward to these two leading this program to a successful season"
