Mustangs Split on the Road with CCRI

Warwick, RI - The Mustangs defeated the Knights of CCRI, 2-1 on Sunday. The Mustangs were down 1-0 late in the game. In the top of the fifth inning Sam Withee singled,  nd scored two runs-collecting her first 2 collegiate RBI's.

Both teams were strong in the circle as the Mustang pitchers combined for 6 strikeouts while the CCRI pitchers had 9 strikeouts. First Year, Lauryn Wood, got the start on the hill going 4 innings with 2 strikeouts and 2 walks. First Year pitcher, Sage Reed, came in to the game in the 5th inning and registered 4 strikeouts and walked 3 while picking up here first collegiate Win.

Sam Withee and Alyvia Perreault each collected hits for the Mustangs while Paige Ouellette was walked twice. The Mustangs also collected 3 stolen bases with Allee Wellman, Emily Sanfacon and Miah Gallan each grabing extra bases.

Game 2

Mustangs 0 Knights 8

Game 2 saw the Mustangs come out flat committing 1 error while allowing the Knights to run away with game and were unable to score a run and fall to the knights..

First Year Alexis Michaud got the start going 4 innings allowing 8 hits striking out none and walking 2. In the 5th inning the Mustangs turned the ball back over to game 1 winner Sage Reed who pitched the last inning allowing 2 hits, collecting 2 strikeouts and walking 2. 

Kiera Greene went 2 for 2 at the plate. Paige Ouellette, Emily Sanfacon, McKenna Ridlon and Miah Gallan each collected hits for the Mustangs.

Head Softball Coach, Bruce Robertson stated, "It was finally great to get our fall season started. Game 1 was an all-around good game, and we saw some good things with some opportunities as well. Our pitching was solid. Game 2 we just came out flat and struggled getting anything going whle making some mental mistakes. Again, I thought our pitching was good but we did not help out at the plate. The game just slipped away from us. We will now regroup and refocus as we look to our next game in the fall season."
